    JOB SUMMARY

    *The Network Services Administrator provides district services by developing and maintaining systems; manipulates and retrieves information for instructional and support staff who use the information for students, other staff and the public; maintains computer and network equipment in a safe and functional operating condition; meets the technology needs of the district; documents information; and resolves immediate operational and safety concerns.*

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.* Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline; or six years of equivalent experience supporting computer networks
    • Valid Driver's License and Evidence of Insurability
    • Possession of Network+, CCNA, or another industry-recognized networking certification; or a minimum of two years of professional experience in routing and switching, IP addressing, wireless technologies, troubleshooting, and foundational network security
    • Demonstrated proficiency with current and legacy versions of Windows, Internet protocols; standard office, antivirus, terminal emulation software, security protocols and standards, back-ups and disaster recovery; and methods and procedures for installing software, hardware, and peripherals
    • Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience administering Linux and Windows Server platforms to support network switch infrastructure and enterprise phone systems
    • Experience supporting VoIP/SIP technologies
    • Experience maintaining Mitel phone systems
    • Experience supporting analog telephony infrastructure
    • Experience configuring and managing Aruba or Cisco network switches

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Administer systems and servers related to district LAN and WAN (e.g., email systems, accounts, print queue, workstation ID, IP assignments, computer labs, classroom computers, VOIP, network, security, antivirus, spyware, etc.) to ensure availability of services to authorized users, as needed
    • Monitor a variety of computer systems and functions (e.g., WAN/LAN connections, wireless LAN, network traffic, performance, etc.) to ensure that District computer systems are secure, and resources are utilized effectively
    • Coordinate a variety of projects and

    activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines

    • Compile data from internal and external sources to analyze issues, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and monitor program components
    • Interface with software and hardware providers to convey and receive information and coordinate district activities
    • Research relevant information (e.g., trends, products, equipment, vendors, consultants, and emerging technology tests, etc.) to recommend procedures and purchases
    • Manage assigned projects and program components (e.g., migration to new systems, scheduling install tions, product research, etc.) to deliver services in compliance with established guidelines and objectives.
    • Monitor the operation of the network center (e.g., temperature, materials, etc.) to ensure efficient operations
    • Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g., staff, administrators, school site personnel, outside vendors and service providers, etc.) to provide technical assistance and support
    • Participate in a variety of planning and development activities (e.g., district wide committee, etc.) to create short- and long-range plans for programming support to the district
    • Oversee and support a desktop technician's daily tasks to ensure delivery and availability of technology to the end user, as needed. Oversee the work activities and projects of other personnel to provide guidance and support and to ensure completion of projects within established guidelines
    • Oversee the development of the District-wide area and local area networks to ensure the efficient growth and increased computing productivity for teachers, support staff, district administrators and Board members
    • Coordinate installation and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and peripherals (e.g., upgrades, drivers, etc.) to provide access to local applications by site and district users
    • Coordinate replacement of district desktop computers to maintain the district specified student to computer ratio and ensuring computer remain in the district specified replacement cycle, as needed
    • Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure availability of required items. Transport a variety of items (e.g., equipment, supplies, etc.) to provide materials at job site or to bring equipment in for repairs
    • Maintain computer hardware and software applications through the use of service contractors to ensure availability of instructional materials and district operations
    • Maintain network operations and software applications (e.g., servers (file, print, application, WEB, database, proxy, etc.), operating systems, district wide server backup, routine maintenance programs, etc.)
    • Train users on general computer use, software applications, and file server operations to ensure the efficient use of computers and software applications
    • Prepare a variety of materials and documents (e.g., reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, etc.) to document activities, provide written reference, and convey information
    • Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders
    • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars, as assigned to convey or gather information required to perform functions
    • Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position
    • Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
    • Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required
    • As needed, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
