Senior Producer, Podcast Editorial

Location: New York, NY-based

Job Type: Full-time (40/hours a week)

Salary Range: $150 - $180,000

Overview

CBS News is seeking a Senior Producer, Podcasts to oversee editorial production across its 48 Hours podcast slate, including two weekly flagship shows and a portfolio of limited series. This role will lead a team of producers and associate producers, driving editorial excellence, production quality, and operational efficiency across both video and audio formats.

The ideal candidate is an experienced editorial leader with a strong production background in news and documentary programming, with an emphasis on legal or true crime storytelling. They are equally comfortable shaping stories and managing teams, with a track record of delivering high-quality content on deadline in fast-paced environments.

This position reports to the Vice President of Podcast Editorial and works with the Executive Producer of 48 Hours

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee production across the video podcast slate, including two weekly flagship shows and multiple limited series

· Manage, mentor, and provide editorial guidance to Producers and Associate Producers

· Set and uphold editorial standards, tone, and storytelling quality across all podcast content

· Oversee episode development, including concepts, rundowns, guest booking strategy, and scripting

· Ensure seamless execution of studio recordings and production workflows

· Partner with the Video Editors to maintain high standards in post-production, pacing, and visual storytelling

· Review cuts and provide clear, actionable editorial feedback

· Manage production timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple shows simultaneously

· Collaborate with marketing and audience teams on distribution strategy, promotion, and growth

· Identify and implement workflow improvements to scale video/audio production efficiently

· Support the development and launch of new podcast series and formats and ensure all deliverables meet deadlines across video, audio, and social platforms

Qualifications

· 8+ years of experience in podcasting, video production, or broadcast/digital news, ideally with a journalism background

· Proven experience managing producers or leading production teams

· Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills in news, talk, or documentary formats

· Experience overseeing multiple projects or series simultaneously

· Deep understanding of video and audio production workflows

· Strong communication and collaboration skills

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $150,000.00 - 180,000.00. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
